An exploration into the history and the documents that describes the history, and location of Zane’s Trace. I will explain how 245 years of what was an ultimate transgression of modern progress distorted and lost the location of this first sanctioned road into the territory North and West of the Ohio River. The documents, correspondence, and recollections give context to an overlooked asset of westward settlement in the early 19th century.
